Point-of-Care Perspectives from PatientPoint

Mental Health Month Spotlight: Mental Health Education Through Collaboration

by PatientPoint

When it comes to health, mental health is physical health. And at PatientPoint, we know that the importance of providing health information to patients at the point of care where they are primed to talk about how they’re feeling. Mental health information and resources have never been more important as they are today, as adults are thinking about and seeking information about mental health more than ever because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

To recognize Mental Health Month, we’re celebrating PatientPoint’s collaborations with some of the nation’s leading mental health organizations to extend their education and resources to the point of care to remind patients and providers to take care of their WHOLE selves and prioritize mental wellness:

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)

As part of our work with the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI), PatientPoint delivers information about NAMI’s online resources and the NAMI HelpLine to the offices of more than 140,000 physician offices nationwide via our Wait-Time Communication Platform, Interactive Exam Room Platform and back-office Provider Access Platform.

Mental Health America

PatientPoint collaborates with Mental Health America (MHA) to share information about MHA’s mental health screenings and mental health education tools across our engagement solutions in primary care and specialty waiting rooms and exam rooms as well as in the back office.

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention

PatientPoint and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) collaborate to bring AFSP suicide prevention messaging, patient stories, support options and education to patients via PatientPoint patient guides and waiting room screens and to providers via our back-office clinical communications platform.

Movember Foundation

It’s true: men are stubborn when it’s time to talk health. The Movember Foundation wants to encourage men to seek mental health care before there is a crisis, and Movember collaborates with PatientPoint to bring mental health messaging to men and those who care about them at the physician’s office.

NoStigmas

PatientPoint joins NoStigmas to deliver important content aimed at eliminating the stigmas associated with mental health and seeking mental health treatment. In waiting rooms across the country, testimonial videos invite patients to learn more about living with mental illness and encourage patients to talk to their healthcare provider during their visit.

During Mental Health and year-round, PatientPoint is proud to highlight resources from each of these organizations on our engagement solutions at the point of care to help more people get the mental health treatment they need.
